We were able to detect a N4,000,000 scam for a land at Ikorodu for a client. We realized that the seller had previously sold the same land to another person who did not take possession some years back so the scammer was hoping the first buyer would not show up again.
We were able to detect a N4,000,000 scam for a land at Ikorodu which our client was interested in.
We commenced our search by meeting with the seller who was able to furnish us with original title documents to the land. He even promised to introduce us to several customary landowners in the area so our client will not experience any challenges whenever he is ready to begin development of the land.
We asked the man to take us to the site for inspection which he was a bit reluctant to do as he insisted that our client had been to the site on several occasions and he believes there was no need for that again. After much deliberation, he asked one of his boys to take us there.
On getting to the site, we noticed that the land was the only empty land in the whole of that area. Also, there corner piece and broken blocks were seen on the site, this raised some doubts in our minds.
At this juncture, we decided to be conduct a private investigation by moving around the environment for the purpose of acquiring information from anyone who is willing to assist us.
After much investigation, we realized that all the information we got were similar which was that the seller had previously sold the same land to another person some years back but possession had not yet be taken so the seller hoping the first buyer may not show up again decided to play a fast one on our client.
