A Fake Real Estate Developer, has reportedly absconded with ₦ 61Million belonging to a prospective buyer of land who sold the land to her under false pretenses.

Chijioke Ibekwe, who claimed to be a developer, allegedly collected ₦ 61 Million Naira from her on the pretext of selling a plot of land to her off Orchid Road Lekki.

She claimed that the alleged developer Chijioke Ibekwe marketed some lands to her and told her he was the CEO of a new real estate company along Orchid Road Ikota Lekki Lagos.

She said he showed her some documents which he claimed were the title documents of the land and convinced her that the land was in hot demand and if she did not pay for the land within a specified period, the price would go up and it could have been out of her reach.

She said she wasn’t conversant about Land purchase much but Chijioke Ibekwe looked credible and showed her a Governor’s Consent of that land in his name.

She said after she paid the money to him in his office in Ikoyi, he stopped picking up her calls. She said she sent him various text messages demanding her title documents or a refund but no response.

She reported the case to the police and upon investigation, they found out that the Governor’s Consent was fraudulently obtained, the land in question wasn’t up for sale and Chijioke Ibekwe had closed his account and disappeared. His office in Ikoyi was deserted and he is presently on the run.
