A client who was desirous of purchasing an acre of land at Elerangbe village almost lost a sum of N11,000,000 to a real estate company believing that since the area had been excised by the Lagos state government there were no issues.

We commenced our verification by meeting with the managing director of the company who presented to us several documents validating their ownership claim to the land. He even went further by connecting us with the person who sold the land to his company (hereinafter referred to as Mr. A).

The information we gathered from both the company and Mr. A revealed that the excision of that entire area was sponsored by Mr. A on behalf of the family and in consideration for that, several acres of land were assigned and transferred to him by the family which part of has been sold to the company.

Furthermore, our surveyor proceeded to the site to confirm the status of the land. On getting to the site he noticed some anomalies on the land which prompted us to investigate further.

Our findings in the course of our investigation revealed that though there was an existing excision in the area, that excision was dubiously obtained by certain individuals and there are serious issues ongoing between the sponsors of the excision and the customary landowners.
